Method of extraction: the essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from citronella grass Cymbopogon winterianus leaves.

Citronella oil was registered as a gentle insect repellent since 1948 and a well-known mosquito repellent.

Because it has a clean wonderful smell, citronella oil is popular in perfumery and cosmetics to flavor soap, shampoos, creams, massage oils. It is widely used in aromatherapy for home aromatization, due to a citrusy scent that can be both uplifting and relaxing, also citronella oil is used in anti-cellulite products [1].

Citronella oil has a relaxing and soothing effect when used in massage oils [2].

You can combine 3 drops of citronella oil with 125 ml of water and use it as tonic for oily skin with enlarged pores, problem acne-prone skin skin care [3]. To use citronella oil topically against acne, dilute it in a 50:50 ration with a carrier oil such as grape seed oil.

Usage:
✓ for skin and hair care – mix 2-3 drops of pure essential oil with 10-15 g of base (almond or jojoba oil, etc.)
✓ for massage oil – mix 2-5 drops of essential oil with 10-15 g of base
✓ in case of acne – mix 7-10 drops of essential oil with 10 g of base
✓ for the bath – mix 4-5 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of milk, honey or sea salt, add to warm water and allow dissolve. Soak in the tub for 10-15 min.

Contraindications: Do not use in case of individual intolerance. It should be diluted before applying to your skin. It can cause allergic skin reactions so be sure to do a patch test before applying it topically.
