Hyssop is highly valued by beekeepers because it is a valuable honey plant. Its leaves and flowers are used in cooking as a spice with a bitter taste of ginger and sage. As a medicinal plant with sage-like effects, it was mentioned as far back as Hippocrates.
Hyssop does not have strong antimicrobial properties like thyme or oregano oils , but at a concentration of 0.15-0.3% it can be effective in mouthwash against bad odor causing microorganisms . Like sage oil, hyssop oil is recommended in oral care products.
Hyssop oil can be used for relaxing massage and anti-wrinkle products because it has muscle-relaxing properties . It can be added to a base oil for local massage on problem areas.
Hyssop oil is used in perfumery as a scent fixer and component of oriental perfumes.
