The first repellents based on essential oils were patented in the early XX century. However, the search for effective and safe insect repellents continues to this day. Not surprisingly, among them are a number of essential oils as a natural protection of plants from animals, reducing the risk of being eaten. But not all essential oils are effective against mosquitoes, sometimes their blends work more effectively and also known as synergistic blends. This blend of oils is used in our research-based mosquito repellent spray that repels up to 92% of mosquitoes at just 0.28 mg/cm2 (per spray click contains 80 mg).
Essential oils usually evaporate after 10-15 minutes, and their effect is weakened. We use natural vanillin, which not only has a strong odor-fixing effect, but also reduces the sensitivity of mosquito receptors. In studies, vanillin extended the repellent properties of essential oils to 4-6 hours, making their effectiveness comparable to even most synthetic repellents.
